♔ Strathmore Rose Tiara

The Strathmore Rose Tiara was a wedding gift given to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (Queen Elizabeth II's mother, also known as, simply, The Queen Mother) from her father, The Earl of Strathmore, in 1923. The tiara itself is likely older than that, however. It may have already been an antique when the Earl purchased it.

The tiara features a garland of wild roses in diamonds mounted in silver and gold. The individual elements can be removed and worn separately.

The Strathmore Rose is a delicate tiara and was worn by the Queen Mother as a bandeau low across her forehead, which was a stylish way to wear a tiara in '20s and '30s. The tiara can also be worn the more traditional way on the top of the head.
